This year's Fourth of July parade in Plymouth featured a special guest at the front: Bonita Gibson, who turned 114 years old Friday and is believed to be the oldest person in Michigan, according to a representative of her assisted living home.

Steeped in patriotism and small town charm, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea celebrates the nation's independence with its annual Fourth of July Parade and Family Fun Day. The day long celebration features a festive parade, family-friendly activities and a beachfront fireworks display.

The party started early on Brownsville Road, with spectators cheering on runners who decided to take on the 42nd Brentwood Firecracker 5K. Then, the parade kicked off at 10 a.m. It featured bands, military groups, dancers and so much more. The day is a special one for many families in the area.
