The Mets will turn to David Peterson with their season hanging in the balance Friday. After considering Kodai Senga for the spot, manager Carlos Mendoza announced Peterson as the team’s Game 5 starting pitcher following the Mets’ 10-2 loss to the Dodgers on Thursday at Citi Field.

Facing an elimination game, he’s fully rested. He’s been one of our best starters, and we just feel like he’s going to give us the best chance,” skipper Carlos Mendoza said of the move, adding that Kodai Senga will be available in relief if needed.

If the Mets can stay away from David Peterson in Game 4, they will. But if not, then they may have to go with their pitching Plan B when it comes to Game 5.
