The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert post is investigating a crash that led to a bicyclist being seriously injured Thursday evening.

It happened Saturday, June 7, in Palm Coast, and the 14-year-old escaped with the help of another driver who blocked the pursuing SUV, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office reported in a June 12 news release. The 65-year-old driver was arrested and faces “multiple charges,” the sheriff’s office said.

The crash occurred on North Clinton Avenue, near Ward Street, around 10:30 p.m., when a 52-year-old man was struck as he was riding a bicycle, said Lt. Nicholas Adams of the Rochester Police Department. The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment, Adams said.
