All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams, who has missed the last four San Francisco games because of an ankle injury, is likely done for the season, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday.

Shutting down Williams would make sense given that the 49ers are virtually eliminated from the postseason. He turns 37 before next year’s training camp, and because he’s still playing at a high level, ensuring he’s fully healthy and ready to go next season has to be a high priority for San Francisco as they wrap up a dreadful 2024 season.

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said the team is getting close to ruling out star left tackle Trent Williams for the rest of the season as his injured ankle isn't healing as fast as the 49ers hoped.

With Trent Williams still battling through an ankle injury, the 49ers may have no choice but to cut his season short.

The San Francisco 49ers have been without Trent Williams for each of the last four games, and Kyle Shanahan admitted it is looking increasingly likely he will not play again this season. His last appearance coming in the surprise Week 11 loss to the Seattle Seahawks,

Left tackle Trent Williams will also miss Wednesday’s session as he continues to battle an ankle injury. Those are the only two players who will sit out. Shanahan was asked if W
