Thousands of people went without power overnight after severe weather moved through the bayou state on Fat Tuesday.

More than 18,000 customers in the Houston area are without power Tuesday morning after thunderstorms swept through the Bayou City overnight, with gusty winds and the threat of wildfires expected later in the day.

Nearly 20,000 power outages were reported in Oklahoma after severe storms blew through the state Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Most of the outages are in Pontotoc County.
