A plane with five people on board crashed Sunday afternoon outside an airport in suburban Pennsylvania, officials said.

A small airplane that was headed to Springfield, Ohio crashed Sunday afternoon near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. According to WLWT Lancaster affiliate WGAL, the plane came down just south of the Lancaster Airport and landed in the parking lot of a local retirement community.

Those on board were taken to a hospital, officials said, and three of them were transported to a burn center. Radio transmissions indicated the pilot reported an “open door” just before the crash.
