The Pixel 6 series may get Android 16 in 2025, despite official support ending in October 2024. This is suggested by its inclusion in the developer preview. Google aims to provide 5 years of security updates for the Pixel 6 series. Newer Android versions offer better security, motivating the continued support.
Pixel 6 and 6 Pro getting Android 16 DP1
With the release of Android 16 Developer Preview 1, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are supported. Assuming no issues emerge (like poor performance), this is a good step towards those two phones getting Android 16 when it launches in Q2 of 2025.
