According to Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Freidman, the Capitals plan on keeping both of their goaltenders Charlie Lindgren and Logan Thompson for the remainder of 2024-25.
Thompson has the fourth-highest save percentage in the NHL among goalies with at least 20 games played, and he's only lost in regulation twice for the Capitals this season.
Notches second straight shutout
Logan Thompson stopped all 19 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season, and the Washington Capitals beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 on Tuesday night. Making a second consecutive start and playing in his third in a row since Charlie Lindgren was injured,
Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson posted his second-straight shutout on Thursday evening against the Ottawa Senators. Thompson stopped all 24 shots he faced, which set up Alexander Ovechkin's overtime game-winner.

Lindgren suffered an upper-body injury in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens after a collision with Nick Suzuki, who was pushed into the crease by Brandon Duhaime. Suzuki appeared to bump into Lindgren's head, sending the 31-year-old netminder down hard to the ice.
Thompson recorded his first shutout of the season and now stands at 19-2-3 through just 24 starts in his inaugural campaign with the Capitals. Only an evenly-split workload with Charlie Lindgren (upper body) has hindered Thompson's breakout, but Thompson is expected to get the bulk of the starts with the latter now on the injured list.
Thompson allowed a goal on 33 shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Predators. Filip Forsberg scored on the power play in the second period, but nothing else got by Thompson. It was more impressive the 27-year-old goalie was able to play so well after playing two-plus periods in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens following an upper-body injury to Charlie Lindgren.
Lindgren (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Lindgren (upper body) won't return to Friday's game versus the Canadiens. Lindgren suffered the injury in a collision, and while he initially stayed in the game, he later exited in the second period.
