Variety has learned exclusively that the ceremony will perform a special tribute of the iconic songs of the James Bond franchise at Sunday’s Academy Awards in honor of longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who received Hon orary Oscars at the past Governors Awards. The Academy declined to comment.

The broad strokes of the deal state that the streaming production powerhouse “will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise,” thanks to a new joint venture. Addressing the decision in Amazon’s press release announcing the deal, producer Michael G. Wilson had this to say:

The 71-year-old actor, who portrayed 007 in four films between 1995 and 2002 – GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, and Die Another Day – admitted the idea of reprising the role was “a rather romantic notion.”
