The victim, identified as Dustin Mitchell Kjersem, was found dead in a tent, about 2.5 miles up Moose Creek Road, north of Big Sky.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office said in a press release on Tuesday that, upon inspection of the scene, no signs of a bear were present.

A father was discovered hacked to death in his tent Saturday morning after he failed to meet up with a buddy for a weekend of camping in Montana, authorities said.

On Oct. 12, the body of 35-year-old Dustin Kjersem, of Belgrade, was discovered inside a tent in the wilderness north of Big Sky in Gallatin County.
