Tropical Cyclone Chido struck northern Mozambique over the weekend, bringing torrential rains and powerful winds that caused devastation for communities in Cabo Delgado province.

The death toll from Cyclone Chido in Mozambique has increased to 73, the National Institute of Risk and Disaster Management has said. At least 66 of the deaths occurred in the northern Cabo Delgado province,

Just last year, Mozambique was left reeling from Cyclone Freddy, one of the longest-lived storms ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere, if not the whole world. More than 180 in the country were killed, the World Meteorological Organization said.
