The SLO County responders are being sent for public safety purposes and to protect government buildings, the release said. They will not be assisting with immigration enforcement.

It's been one week since the first immigration raids began in Los Angeles and surrounding communities, spurring protests in downtown L.A. daily. Most demonstrations have been peaceful, but some protests became chaotic last weekend.
