Stephen Moore, who served as an economic adviser to Trump during his 2016 campaign, said Sunday on Fox News that the stock market has been going up and down as the president continues to implement and pause tariffs. He pointed to a lackluster jobs report on Friday and other economic numbers that show that the economy needs a “pick-me-up.”

Donald Trump has heard the seers at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and he's not buying their predictions of a looming recession. The president dodged any talk of an economic downturn during a surprisingly testy interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday.

When asked if he's expecting a recession this year, Trump said "I hate to predict things like that."
