It's been nearly two decades since Virtua Fighter 5 was released, but as teased last month by Sega itself, a new sequel is on the horizon. At The Game Awards, Sega debuted the first teaser for Virtua Fighter 6. The publisher also revealed that more info will follow at a Virtua Fighter Direct after the conclusion of The Game Awards.

Sega finally did it. Just weeks after announcing a new version of Virtua Fighter 5 for Steam, the company has confirmed that an all-new entry, which appears to be Virtua Fighter 6, is in the works. Virtua Fighter 6 would be the first new numbered entry in Sega’s fighting game franchise in nearly two decades.
