Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite chips have been the star of many AI PCs released to market in 2024, greatly enhancing performance and battery life compared to their previous gen iterations. However, the manufacturer’s recent endeavor to improve on one of its negative points hasn’t panned out.

Qualcomm has canceled its upcoming Windows Mini PC, the Snapdragon Dev Kit, in what could be a blow to some Arm developers. The $899 Mini PC wasn't intended for general use, but to help developers develop Windows applications that were natively compatible with chips manufactured by semiconductor giant Arm.

In late July, Qualcomm quietly debuted a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dev Kit sold by Arrow. This week, Qualcomm and Arrow have recalled those Dev Kit units.

Qualcomm has canceled its Snapdragon Dev Kit, the miniature Windows on Arm PC that was originally supposed to ship in June. In an email to customers, Qualcomm said the mini PC “has not met our usual standards of excellence” and orders will now be refunded.

Snapdragon Dev Kit was supposed to ship in June but was repeatedly delayed. It's been a big year for Windows running on Arm chips, something that Microsoft and Arm chipmakers have been trying to get off the ground for well over a decade.
