Peru has the longest wait for its next win in Miss Universe history, as Gladys Zender first won the title in 1957. The half-Swiss was a 17-year-old sensation and was the first Latina to win the crown.

In a ceremony held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, 21-year-old Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark was crowned the 73rd Miss Universe. She triumphed over 125 contestants from across the globe, marking Denmark's first-ever victory in the prestigious beauty pageant’s history.

Miss Denmark Victoria Kjær Theilvig was crowned today as the new Miss Universe, the first blonde woman to win the contestant in twenty years, and the first woman from her country to carry the crown. Miss Mexico María Fernanda Beltrán and Miss Nigeria Shatu Garko are the third and second finalists,

Miss Universe is a pageant held annually by the Miss Universe Organization, which celebrates women's accomplishments across the world. This year's event is being held in Mexico City, Mexico. Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua will crown her successor at the end of the event.
