As firefighters continue making progress on the Franklin Fire, which burned more than 4,000 acres in Malibu this week, mandatory evacuation orders were lifted and downgraded to warnings Friday.

Evacuation orders have been reduced to warnings for areas affected by the Franklin Fire, allowing more residents to begin to return to their homes as road access is restored.

Thousands of acres in Malibu are still on fire as firefighters work to contain the Franklin fire after red flag warnings end, according to officials. Around 4,037 acres of land are ablaze because of the fire, according to Cal Fire. It is 7% contained.

Firefighters continued to battle the blaze, dubbed the Franklin Fire, which was only 20% contained over about 4,000 acres Thursday.

The Franklin Fire burning in Malibu, and near Pepperdine University, has grown to more than 4,000 acres with 30% containment. Thousand of people have been forced to evacuate.

After the Franklin Fire in Malibu began on Monday, Dec. 9, Cher has been required to evacuate her home. Dick Van Dyke and Mira Sorvino also revealed they have evacuated.

All mandatory evacuation orders were lifted in Malibu on Friday as cooler temperatures, rising humidity and slower winds helped firefighters reach 32% containment on the Franklin fire.
