Seven years after the box office hit “Crazy Rich Asians” won over rom-com lovers on the big screen, a TV show is reportedly in the works based on Kevin Kwan’s three bestselling books. Jon M. Chu, who directed the film is expected to produce the series.

The film sequel may still be in limbo, but “Crazy Rich Asians” lives on.

Like the film, the TV project is based on Kevin Kwan’s book series of the same name. “Crazy Rich Asians” was published in 2013, followed by “China Rich Girlfriend” in 2015 and “Rich People Problems” in 2017. Kwan executive produced Lim and Chu’s 2018 film and will also executive produce the Max series, for which Warner Bros TV is the studio.

Alongside Lim (via her 100 Tigers prod co), executive producers will also include Jon M. Chu (via his Electric Somewhere banner), who directed the film, and Kevin Kwan, who authored the novel of the same name that inspired the film and the upcoming series.

Seven years after “Crazy Rich Asians” hit theaters, a series based on the hit novels by Kevin Kwan will be adapted into a TV series with the 2018 film’s director Jon M. Chu being tapped to take charge of production.
