TORONTO (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is not willing to lift Canada’s retaliatory tariffs if Trump leaves any tariffs on Canada, a senior government official told The Associated Press. The official confirmed the stance on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

"Tariffs are about making America rich again and making America great again," Trump said in his address to Congress.

Trump has imposed 25% tariffs on products entering the US from Canada and Mexico, and has increased a levy on goods coming from China. The Canadian prime minister announced retaliatory tariffs on US exports and warned that a trade war would be costly for both countries.
