London-based tech firm Nothing has delighted us before with its light-up Android phones that provide some much-needed frivolity in a world full of plain, gray smartphones that take themselves too seriously.

The Nothing Phone 3a lives up to the promise of an affordable phone that delivers impressive features, especially when you look at its colorful screen, consistent camera performance and eye-catching design. But limited availability may convince some bargain hunters to go with more established phones from Google and Samsung.

Nothing doesn’t have a Phone 3 yet, instead choosing to make a lateral move to not one, but two new mid-range devices, the Nothing Phone 3a and, intriguingly, the 3a Pro. Reassuringly, Nothing continues to design phones unlike anything else out there.
