Waymo, Uber begin offering robotaxi rides in Austin ahead of SXSW
Waymo on Tuesday began offering robotaxi rides in Austin, Texas, through the Uber app. The launch sets up Waymo to showcase its driverless technology to the 300,000 expected attendees for Austin's annual SXSW festival that kicks off Friday. Waymo is already serving over 200,000 paid trips per week across San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix.

Starting today, if you call an Uber in Austin you can match with a self-driving Waymo vehicle. The launch in the Texas capital is part of an expanded partnership between the two tech companies.
