Renowned tabla maestro Zakir Hussain has been admitted to a hospital in San Francisco due to heart issues, as confirmed by his friend and fellow musician, Rakesh Chaurasia. Hussain, 73, is currently in the ICU after experiencing hypertension.

The news of Hussain's death remains unconfirmed by the family or the consulate in San Fransisco where he was reportedly hospitalised earlier on Sunday. But the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has confirmed the passing of Tabla Maestro Zakir Hussain.
