Apple released a new macOS Yosemite update that accidentally lists the unreleased M4 MacBook Air models. The launch must be close.

The macOS 15.2 update that was released earlier today came with a handful of new features, plus something unexpected: an apparently accidental reference to the upcoming M4 MacBook Airs. MacRumors reports that the "Mac16,12" and "Mac16,13" model identifiers reference 13- and 15-inch models of the M4 Air and that both are coming in 2025.

While the M4 MacBook Air might be worth waiting for. The current models of the MacBook Air, i.e. the M2 and M3 — especially with their recent updates, are already excellent choices.

We've seen products leaked in Apple code before because it generally contains references to the hardware it's designed to work with. This time there are references to Mac16,12 and Mac16,13. Those are listed as "MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)" and "MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025)" respectively.
