Gov. Jared Polis sprinkles stories of Coloradans into every State of the State address, inviting them to the chamber so people can put a face to the name. But this year, he told the story of a Coloradan who remained nameless and faceless.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis offered an evenhanded approach to the coming Trump administration, he said during his annual State of the State address Thursday.

In a nod to a fight that could get new life with Trump’s return to office, Polis declared early on that Colorado is the “ rightful home of Space Command .” Officials in Alabama are hopeful the president-elect will return to his earlier decision to relocate the Command from Colorado Springs to their state.
