Illinois' top-ranked teams dominate in the opening round of the Illinois high school football state tournament.

The rankings held up well through the first round of the playoffs. Warren knocking off Palatine was the only mild surprise and that represented a trend. The North Suburban conference, which had four teams popping in and out of the rankings all season, had a great first round.
