ICL Group, a global specialty minerals company, has announced plans to build a large battery materials manufacturing plant in north St. Louis City.

The $570 million project, which received incentives Tuesday from both the city and state, has strong backing from the federal government.

A major manufacturer is expanding in the City of St. Louis.The ICL Group LTD already operates in South City and announced Tuesday plans to expand into north St. Louis with a state-of-the-art, more than $500 million facility on Carrie Avenue along the North Riverfront.

One of our five primary goals is growing the cities population,” SLDC CEO Neil Richardson said. “In order to do that we must attract major employers."

The company specializing in specialty minerals will build a new production plant in the northern part of the city of St. Louis. As part of its North American expansion, the plant will manufacture lithium iron phosphate cathode active material destined for the energy storage and electric vehicle end-markets.
