Google is stepping up its game in battery management with a new feature called Battery Health Assistance, expected to arrive with Android 16. Aimed at enhancing long-term battery life and maintaining consistent performance, the feature marks a deeper focus on sustainable phone usage. But there’s a limitation, at least for now.

While Android 16’s official launch begins with this rollout, many of the standout features—including the refreshed user interface and enhanced battery health tools—will not be part of the initial update. These are scheduled to be introduced later with the Android 16 QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release 1) update.

Android 16 will introduce several new features to Pixel phones, including a new Protection Mode for enhanced security, battery health monitoring, and Live Updates that keep notifications visible on the lock screen.

The Android 16 update is here for Pixel, and it looks like a boring update. There's a lot more to the update than meets the eye, though.
