The blacksmith was very informative and personable. He took the time to explain the process in a hands on way. The highlight of our visit. However, all of the staff were friendly and pleasant. Full review by jlwinters1150

Would this be a welcoming place to visit if you are a person of color? It would be interesting to learn about the history and see the buildings, but, people who proudly wave the confederate flag scare me. I don't want to start anything - just trying to plan. I am interested in this place, but want to make sure it is safe and welcoming for all.

it is perfectly safe here. In fact, half the population of the town is black. You will be welcome with open arms. There is indeed a lot of history here. Because of Covid-19 our tour guides are not doing interpretative programming at this time. you may tour the grounds, but the buildings, except for the gift shop in the 1874 courthouse and our Williams Tavern Inn restaurant are closed. The restaurant is serving in the dining area but they are offering a limited menu. Masks are required until you receive food at your table. I hope this helps you to decide to visit our park. I I can be of further assistance, please post your questions and i'll be glad to answer them.
