We took the tram up so we could save some energy for the other hikes offered. So many wonderful views and vistas. We capped it with a drink at the bar. Full review by RobBoston80

Hello, we visited today December 19th and there was definitely plenty of snow on top. It was a warm 26 degrees (Celsius) at the bottom of the mountain and a cooler 11 degrees up top - although we found that walking around up there we soon warmed up. Make sure you wear shoes with a good grip though as lots of the trails are snow covered and can get slippery.

Yes, of course it is.. First one is the trail "Cactus to clouds" - starts right form Palm Springs Museum of art parking lot. This trail is long and steep, 16 miles one way to summit, first ~8 miles are the steepest, till you reach the ranger station after that is much easier.. Hiking on this trail usually starts at night time due to very hot conditions during the day - no shade till you get to ranger station. If you check on Google this trail, you will find a lot of usefull and detailed info. There is another hiking trail to summit from Mt Sant Jacinto State park, it is about one hour drive from Palm Springs to get to that trail, park locate on the opposite site of the mountain from Palm Springs, this trail is not so long and not so steep compare to "Cactus to clouds" trail.

The travel time on the tram is not the issue. Maybe 20 minutes max. It's the wait time for the next available tram that can be a problem. It can be hours. Maybe it's possible to reserve a specific tram time. You would still have get there early enough to get through the parking gates and then on to the tram station.
