We have tickets for next week but the weather looks sketchy, with scattered rain and thunderstorms . Bummer! I know you will offer an alternate trip (does this mean the same trip on a different day or a completely different excursion) in case of inclement weather. If it is cloudy and in the 60's, what clothing would you recommend? Our initial plans were for warm weather, clothing-wise.

We were on the water 3 hours in kayaks and moving at a pretty good speed on the boat an hour out and an hour back so have layers with water/wind resistance on the outer layer. Extra items, such as a duffel bag/backpack can be left on the boat while kayaking so pack more than what you think you'll need. Some people changed when back on board after paddling. The kayaks have skirts to keep you dry below the waist. I can't help with the alternate trip question but have been in Michigan nearly 6 decades and never make or change plans a week out because of weather forecasts, so I hope your day turns out dry and warm.
Two questions... Background-- my husband and I are in our early 50's and have kayaked but mainly on places with no chop. He's more athletic than me. Neither of us are great swimmers. Some reviews talk about people capsizing, some say it's no problem. 1. Does capsizing happen a lot and do you think we would be able to successfully and safely participate on this trip? 2. Last year I read that rocks fell from the shore and nearly missed some kayakers that were exploring the caves. Is that a really rare occurence? Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

My husband and I are 70 and 60. We do kayak for fishing, so these were very different kayaks. You sit down into them. We felt very secure navigating in the swells that came from a boat going by. Plus, your with a small group of about 6 kayaks and your guide, so everyones together. There were kids too. Encourage you to go for it!

1348 commercial street in Munising Mi, look for the bright yellow roof! We gather there and then walk to the boat.
