A great tourist place to see while in Bratislava. It's really easy to get to and it's just right by all the main historical places, shopping places and restaurants. Full review by kludskytravel

A theatre in two halves so to speak a grand colonnaded building and is renowned for its work in the development of Slovak theatre and performing arts. Full review by Michael O

The Slovak National Theatre looks really nice in the middle of the city. You can find very similar buildings in Hungary (Budapest, Szeged, etc.) also facilitating theatres. Full review by OZS_ATW

Hi, we are travelling to Bratislava in a couple of days, we would love to take in an opera. However we were wondering about dress code, we have smart trousers and shoes, shirts and smart jumpers but no suit jackets. Would this be okay?

There shouldn't be any trouble with smart casual. You might feel a little underdressed for any late function as people do tend to have nice dresses but is going to be covered with winter …

Hi, We will be in Bratislava on holiday from the UK and would like to see the ballet Sleeping Beauty at the modern theatre at 11am on Saturday 15th April. We have never been to a ballet (or opera or classical music concert) before and so it will all be new to us. I've looked at the seating plan to book tickets but am at a loss to know what are considered the "best" seats. I guess for a ballet it's important to be able to see the stage and the dancers well. Any suggestions most gratefully received. Thanks for listening. Gill Allard

Hi, I think the best is to buy ticket downstairs (ground floor) probably in the middle of rows VI to IX. In case you would like to have more gap for the feet there is like pass in front of row IV. I had seat in the first row when I was there - for opera it's great but to see the dancers properly it would be better, in my opinion, to have a seat a bit further from the stage. I hope you will enjoy it, I saw some ballet production there before and they've been really good. If you will have time walk around the town, it's not too big but with lot of history and I and my husband enjoy every time we travel there to visit our friends.
Q:
We are planning to go to the ballet on Sunday night (28 Feb) and was wondering if there was a dress code please?
A:
Smart casual would be acceptable - like dress pants and jacket for men and dress for women. No sneakers or jeans.
