Tour was very informative, our guide was knowledgeable in all working of the mine and answered all questions. Highly recommend taking the 2 1/4 hour tour if you’re going to be in the area. Full review by Forrest S

It was about 1.5 - 2 hours, the surface tour of the above ground museum space is about 30 minutes and then the underground tour taking the tram to the mine and inside the mine is about an hour or so. There’s the option to choose just one or the other too. It was a really good tour and I learned a lot!

Yes, there is walking required for the tour. From the main building where you purchase your tickets, you can either walk to the building where the tour originates, which is about a five minute walk, or you can drive your vehicle there. Once at that building, you need to walk to the car that takes you down to the mine. From there you walk to the other vehicle that takes you into the mine. After that ride, you exit the vehicle for the tour of the actual mine and you are walking or standing for about 30 minutes. There is one part of this portion of the tour where there are a few fold up chairs if you wanted to sit for a moment. Then you do the return trip to the building. Back at the building, you walk up a flight of stairs, and then tour, with a guide, around that floor which is about another 30 minutes of standing/walking. There are benches in this room, so there are places to sit while you listen to the guide. I hope this helps you.

We're a family of 5 in the area Mon and Tues. Any need to reserve tickets ahead of time or OK to buy them when we get there.
A:
I don't think you need to reserve tickets ahead of time. When we were there in June it was not at all crowded. We arrived shortly before they opened in the morning and had no problem.
