I was just there yesterday (Feb. 15, 202), and spoke to one of the the Museum members at the Lancaster display (undergoing annual inspection and maintenance). He said if you want a flight, book early. You have to become a CWHM member first and then pay the C$3600 per person with a minimum of four passengers, and weather permitting, it'll fly. I've heard and seen it fly many times over Hamilton during the summer months--I marvel like a little kid every time. If you can't afford the Lanc, consider the Mitchell B-25 or the Douglas Dakota (DC-3). CWHM membership is required in each case. Check their website. You can also call them to ask if the Lanc's flying on a particular day if you're here already and just want to go there to watch it taxi out of the hanger. That's worth the trip alone :-)
Q:
Would this be a good place for 2 and 3 year olds?

I'm doing a project at school for George "Buzz" Beurling and I was just wondering if you could send something to my teacher so I could put it in my project. Please do not send something I would be paying for , as my teacher would prefer us not to buy anything. Address: 1434 80 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6K 2C6 (Dan Knott School)

There is a Buzz Beurling stature at the Warplane Museum. He was, indeed, one of the best pilots that Canada produced during WW2. He had the keen ability to track and then shoot enemy aircraft using a very old technique. He would place his sights in front of the enemy, fire and then let the enemy aircraft fly into his bullets. However, he was not a team player. Beuriling liked to fly alone, disobey orders and confront the enemy on his terms.... Even though he was a skilled pilot with a great record of kills, he was sent from squadron to squadron because of his "lone wolf" attitude. Nevertheless, he is still a great Canadian pilot and hero.

The Lancaster is normally there. When my husband and family were there in October it was outside being used for flights that people pay for. It is expensive to take a flight in the Lancaster, but, people say it is amazing. There are other amazing war planes that you take flights in, however, you must pre-book these. The whole museum is definitely worth while seeing over and over.
