There is parking and it would be appropriate for young children. I am not sure if there was a separate entrance fee because we were part of a group from a Carnival Splendor cruise ship. It is a very historical place and looks out over beautiful water.

Downtown and the Cathedral are probably 1/2 mile from Fort San Felipe. You can easily cover all in 3 - 4 hours.
