Don’t be fooled by all the ads to rent a “heavy duty” tube for a float. The main float area of the river is super calm and doesn’t require a “heavy duty tube” as the rental companies like to advertis… Full review by David L

Are there places on the Deschutes river that rent self-guided tours? If so, where? How strong is the current?
A:
No guided tours for the float down this section of the river. You just follow the other “floaters”. The river is safe, current slow and the experience absolutely wonderful!
Would like to whitewater raft or kayak August 5th , do I need to set up before I arrive on Bend Area?

As per the previous post, please contact the Bend Park and Recreation District for information. That would be a good bet to ensure you have a good time here in Bend.
